Acetaminophen

This test measures the amount of acetaminophen in your blood. Acetaminophen is a medicine used in many over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medicines. It is used to relieve pain and reduce fever. It comes in liquid, chewable, capsule, or pill form. It is found in many brand name medicines, including Tylenol and Excedrin.

The test is used to find out if you or your child has taken too much acetaminophen. It may also be used to monitor how well the treatment of an overdose is working.
